garlic/ poondu chutney/ kara chutney

INGREDIENTS

  • Garlic cloves from 2 full garlics.
  • Tomatoes - 2
  • Red chillies - 6
  • Small onion - 2 (chopped)
  • Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp.
  • Bengalgram dhal - 1/4 tsp.
  • Curry leaves - chopped as required
  • Salt as required

METHOD OF PREPARATION

  • Cut tomatoes into small pieces.
  • Now grind the garlic cloves with red chillies without pouring water.
  • Now add tomatoes and salt and grind coarsely.
  • Take a pan and fry mustard seeds, bengalgram dhal, chopped onion and curry leaves.
  • Add the chutney into the fried ingredients.
  • Keep boiling for 10 minutes until the raw smell of the garlic disappears.
  • Serve this chutney with idli, dosa and chappathi.
