tomato rice
ingredients
- Rice - 1/2 cup
- Tomato - 3
- Onion - 1 big size
- Green chillies - 2
- Cloves - 2
- Cinnamon - 2 sticks
- Sambar powder - 1/4 tsp
- Salt - 1 1/2 tsp.
- Fenugreek - 1/2 tsp.
- Sombu powder - 1/2 tsp.

- Cook rice and spread on a plate to cool. Grind the tomatoes into smooth paste using mixi.
- Heat 3 tsp. of oil and fry cloves and cinnamon.
- Add green chillies and chopped onions.
- When they are reddish, add tomato paste, sombu powder, salt and sambar powder.
- Fry well without pouring water. When the oil leaves the sides remove from the fire and add to the rice.
- Fry fenugreek without oil and sprinkle over the rice and mix well. Garnish with curry, mint and coriander leaves.
- This rice can be served with vegetable kurma, onion pachadi or carrot pachadi.

- Heat 3 tsp. of oil and fry cloves and cinnamon.
- Add green chillies and chopped onions. When they are reddish, add tomato paste, sombu powder, salt and sambar powder.
- Wash the rice and add the fried items.
- Pour water as required. Boil this for 5 minutes and cook using pressure cooker.
- Garnish with curry , mint and coriander leaves.
