curry leaf kuzhambu (karivepilai)

 

INGREDIENTS

  • Tamarind - 12 small lime size
  • Red chillies - 5
  • Blackgram dhal - 1 and a half tsp.
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp.
  • Salt - 2 tsp.
  • Asafoetida - a bit
  • Curry leaves - 2-3 table spoons

METHOD OF PREPARATION

  • In a little oil fry blackgram, asafoetida and red chillies.
  • Grind them with curry leaves, salt and tamarind to a smooth paste.
  • Dissolve this paste in half litre of water and simmer for 15-20 minutes till it gets littles thickened.
  • Season with mustard seeds.
