INGREDIENTS

  • Tamarind - 1 lime size
  • Salt - 2 tsp.
  • Curry leaves
  • Mustard - 1 tsp.

For masala

  • Pepper - 1 and a half tsp.
  • Red chillies - 4
  • Thur dhal - 1 and a half tsp.
  • Black gram - 1 and a half tsp.
  • Asafoetida - a bit

METHOD OF PREPARATION

  • Fry the above ingredients in a little oil and grind into a smooth paste.
  • Add to the extracted tamarind juice (1/2 litre).
  • Add salt and allow to simmer for 15 - 20 minutes till it gets a little thickened.
  • Finally, add a tsp. of rice flour dissolved in a little water.
  • After 5 minutes, remove from fire.
  • Season with mustard seeds and curry leaves.
