lime or lemon rasam
ingredients
- Thur dhal - 4 tbl. sp.
- Salt - 1 and a half tsp.
- Rasam powder - 1 tsp.
- Tomato - 1 small size
- Lime - 1 small
- Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp.
- Coriander seeds - 1/2 tsp.
- Pepper - 1/2 tsp.
- Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp.
- Asafotida - a bit
- Green chilly - 1
- Curry and coriander leaves
method of preparation
- Cook the dhal with just enough water and a pinch of turmeric powder.
- Take 1/2 litre of water and add to it tomato pieces, salt, asafoetida and rasam powder. Bring to boil.
- After 10 minutes, add the dhal and simmer for a while.
- Add lime juice. Remove from the fire.
- In a pan without adding oil, just fry pepper and coriander seeds and powder with cumin seeds ( don't fry the cumin seeds).
- Add to the rasam. Mix well.
- Season with mustard seeds and ganish with curry and coriander leaves.
- Add 1 green chilly, chopped into small pieces.
