thippili rasam

ingredients

  • Tamarind - 3/4 small lime size
  • Salt - 2 tsp.
  • Mustard - 1/2 tsp.
  • Asafoetida - a bit

for masala

  • kanda thippili - 4 sticks
  • Red chillies - 2
  • Pepper - 1/2 tsp.
  • Thur dhal - 1 tsp.
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp.

method of preparation

  • Fry the above ingredients in a little oil.
  • Except cumin seeds, and grind into a paste with cumin seeds.
  • Soak tamarind and extract about 500 ml. of tamarind juice.
  • Add salt and asafoetida and boil. While boiling, add the masala and simmer for five to ten minutes.
  • Remove from the fire. Season with mustard seeds.
  • Garnish with curry and coriander leaves.
  • This rasam is a good medicine for fever and cold.
