thippili rasam
ingredients
- Tamarind - 3/4 small lime size
- Salt - 2 tsp.
- Mustard - 1/2 tsp.
- Asafoetida - a bit
for masala
- kanda thippili - 4 sticks
- Red chillies - 2
- Pepper - 1/2 tsp.
- Thur dhal - 1 tsp.
- Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp.
method of preparation
- Fry the above ingredients in a little oil.
- Except cumin seeds, and grind into a paste with cumin seeds.
- Soak tamarind and extract about 500 ml. of tamarind juice.
- Add salt and asafoetida and boil. While boiling, add the masala and simmer for five to ten minutes.
- Remove from the fire. Season with mustard seeds.
- Garnish with curry and coriander leaves.
- This rasam is a good medicine for fever and cold.
