ingredients

  • Ripe tomato - 4 to 5
  • Thur dhal- 4 table spoons
  • Rasam powder - 1 tsp.
  • Salt- 1 and a half tsp.
  • Asafoetida - a bit
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp.
  • Curry and coriander leaves
  • Turmeric powder - a pinch

method of preparation

Cook the dhal and mash well.Cut tomatoes.

Add to it 1/4 litre of water, salt,rasam powder, turmeric powder and asafoetida and boil.

After ten minutes, add the cooked dhal.

When the rasam froths up, add curry and coriander leaves and season with mustard seeds.

For this rasam, instead of rasam powder, the masala should be added.

for masala

  • Asafoetida - a bit
  • Coriander seeds - 1 tsp.
  • Pepper - 1/2 tsp.
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp.
  • Red chillies - 2
  • Redgram dhal(thur dhal) - 1tsp.

Method of preparation

Fry the above ingredients and grind and add to the rasam while boiling.

The method and other ingredients are same as mentioned above.
