ingredients
1.Chicken - 1/2 kg.
2.cinnamon stick - 2.5cm
3.cardamom pods - 2
4. cloves - 2
5. Onion - 1 chopped
6. Tomato - 1 chopped
7. Coriander powder - 2 tsp.
8. Sambar powder - 1 and a half tsp.
9. Fresh coriader and mint leaves to garnish
10. Salt to taste
To grind
1. Cumin seeds - 3 tsp.
2. Sombu - 2 tsp.
3. Peeper - 1 tsp.
4. Onion - 1
5.Tomato - 1
6.Ginger - a small piece
7. Garlic - 15 colves
Fry cumin seeds, Sombu and pepper and grind as a dry powder and keep aside. Now grind onion, tomato, ginger and garlic together without dding more water.
Method of preparation
- First cut the chicken into small pieces and wash well and soak it in a 4 tsp. of curd for 1/2 an hour.
- Now keep a pan in a stove and pour 6 tsp. of oil.
- Add cinnamon stick, cardamom pods, cloves - 2 , chopped onion and saute for 5 minutes.
- Now add the ground paste of ginger, garlic, onion, tomato to the pan.
- Saute it for 10 minutes until the water gets evaporated.
- Now add chopped tomato and saute for 2 minutes.
- In the meanwhile wash the soaked chicken with water and add it to the pan.
- Fry for 5 minutes and pour 3 cups of water.
- Now add sambhar powder, coriander powder, salt and a mixture of cumin seeds, sombu and pepper to the pan.
- Mix with a ladder and pressure cook using cooker for 10 minutes.
- After the pressure is released, add 1/2 a tsp. of chicken masala powder and then mix well and keep in the stove for 4 minutes.
- Now finally garnish with mint and coriander leaves.
- Now the tasty chicken curry is ready and serve with hot boiled rice.
- This can also be served with Idli, Dosa and Chappathi.
