ingredients

  • Chicken - 1kg
  • Ginger garlic paste - 2 tsp.
  • Onion (chopped) - 1 medium size
  • Lime juice - 1 tsp.
  • Green chillies - 4 (vertically sliced)
  • Pepper - 2 tsp.
  • Soya sauce - 2 tsp.
  • Butter - 2 tsp.
  • Vegetable oil - 2 tsp.
  • Curd - 4 tsp.
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp.
  • Mint and coriander leaves - to garnish
  • Salt to taste

Method of preparation

  • Cut the chicken into medium sized pieces.
  • Wash well and soak in 4 tsp. of curd for 20 minutes.
  • After 20 minutes wash with soft water for 2 times and pressure cook the chicken with 1 tsp. of salt, 1/4 cup of water and 1/4 tsp. of turmeric powder.
  • After the first whistle, keep simmer for 7 minutes and take off from the gas stove.
  • After the pressure has released drain out the water from the chicken pieces and keep the water to make pepper chicken.
  • Now take a pan and add the butter.
  • After the butter has melted add the chopped onion and green chillies saute for 5 minuites.
  • Now add ginger and garlic paste to a pan and saute for 5 minutes.
  • Add the drained water from the pressure cooked chicken and pour it to the pan.
  • Add required amount of salt and 1/4 tsp. of turmeric powder.
  • Keep boiling for 5 minutes till the water gets evaporated.
  • Now add the chicken pieces and 2 tsp. of oil thensaute for 3 minutes till all the liquid gets evaporated.
  • At this stage add the pepper powder and saute till the pepper gets mixed well.
  • Take off from the stove then add lemon juice and garnish with mint and coriander leaves.
  • Serve hot. Children like this nice flavoured pepper chicken and this is a good recipe to cure cold and cough.
  • This can be serve as a side dish for hot boiled rice and chicken curry or can be served as a evening snack for children.
