Methu vadai

ingredients

  • Blackgram - 1/2 cup
  • Green chillies - 2
  • Salt - to taste
  • Ginger - a bit
  • Raw rice powder - 1 tsp.
  • Onion - 1 (chopped)
  • Curry and coriander leaves - cut into small pieces.

 

method of preparation

  • Wash well and soak dhal for two hours.
  • Grind it into a slightly coarsed dough with chillies, ginger and salt.
  • Add chopped onion, curry and coriander leaves and miw well.
  • Heat oil in a deep frying pan.
  • Keep a little dough on a plantain leaf or plastic sheet.
  • Flatten it out to a vada.
  • Fry in oil. Turn the vadai over, and the oil in a drainer and serve.
  • Fry 4 to 5 vadas at a time.
  • Serve hot with coconut chutney.
