ingredients

  • Raw rice - 1 cup
  • Parboiled rice - 1 cup
  • Coconut - 1/2
  • Asafoetida -a bit
  • Blackgram dhal - 1/4 cup
  • Cooking soda - a pinch

method of preparation

Prepare the batter as said for the appam. Take some quantity of batter in another vessel. And use this batter for karapaniyaram and sweet paniyaram-1.

Karapaniyaram

INGREDIENTS

  • Batter - 1 cup
  • Onion - 1 medium six
  • Green chillies - 2 (chopped)
  • Curry leaves
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp.
  • Black gram dhal - 1/2 tsp.

Method of preparation

  • Cut the onion into small pieces.
  • In a small quantity of oil fry mustard seeds, blackgram dhal, curry leaves, green chillies and onion.
  • Fry the onion till the brown colour exists.
  • Now mix this to the batter thoroughly.
  • Take kuzhipaniyaram vessel and heat it.
  • Pour oil or ghee and pour the batter in it.
  • After 5 minutes turn using kuzhipaniyaram spoon until brown colour exists on both sides.
  • Serve hot with coconut chutney or tomato chutney.

Sweetpaniyaram-1

ingredients

  • Batter - 1 cup
  • Jaggery - 1/2 cup
  • Coconut - 4 tbl.sp.(grated)
  • Cardamom - a bit

method of preparation

  • In 1 cup of batter, add jaggery, grated coconut, cardamom and mix well.
  • Now cook this using kuzhipaniyaram vessel as said for karapaniyaram.

Maida sweetpaniyaram-2

ingredients

  • Batter - 1/2 cup
  • Maida flour - 1/2 cup
  • Jaggery - 1/2 cup
  • Coconut - 4 tbl.sp.(grated)
  • Cardamom - a bit

method of preparation

  • Mix the maida flour to the batter without lumps.
  • Then add jaggery, cocounut, cardamom and mix well.
  • Add water if necessary.
  • Now cook this using kuzhipaniyaram vessel as said above.

Rava sweetpaniyaram - 3

ingredients

  • Rava - 1cup
  • Milk - 1 cup
  • Sugar - 3/4 cup
  • Coconut - 4 tbl.sp. (grated)
  • Cardamom - a bit

method of preparation

  • Soak rava in 1 cup of milk for 1 hour.
  • Grind this using mixi.
  • Now add sugar, coconut, cardamom and mix well.
  • Cook this mixture using kuzhipaniyaram vessel as said above.

Gram sweetpaniyaram - 4

ingredients

  • Bengal gram dhal - 1/2 cup
  • Black gram dhal - 1/4 cup
  • Green gram dhal - 1/2 cup
  • Maida flour - 1/4 cup
  • Jaggery - 1 cup
  • Cocounut - 1/4 cup (grated)
  • Cardamom - a bit

method of preparation

  • Soak all the grams together for 3 hours.
  • Then grind this mixture coarsely.
  • Now add maida flour, jaggery, coconut and cardamom and mix well.
  • Add water if required.
  • The batter should be thick.
  • Now cook this using kuzhipaniyaram vessel.
  • This can be cooked as small appam in the appam pan.
